More than 14,000 Krispy Kreme doughnuts have touched down at Townsville Airport today as part of a special offer presented by Townsville Airport and Spotless’ The Strand Café.
$7 from every dozen purchased will be donated directly to the communities affected by Cyclone Debbie through the GIVIT organisation.
Townsville Airport Chief Operating Officer Kevin Gill said he was pleased to be hosting the airport’s second pop-up Krispy Kreme event.
“On the back of the success of our previous Krispy Kreme initiative (held just before Christmas 2016), we have decided to host a similar event to give locals the opportunity to stock up on Krispy Kremes right before the Easter holiday period!”
“The Krispy Kreme pop-up is a great way to engage with the local community, and help raise much needed funds for those affected by Cyclone Debbie at the same time,” said Mr Gill.
“Today we are expecting to raise approximately $11,000 for North Queensland residents affected by Cyclone Debbie.”
Spotless Townsville Airport Operations Manager Shona Weston said she was pleased to assist in raising funds for flood and cyclone affected victims.
“We are appreciative to be able to work alongside the Townsville Airport in organising an event which will benefit our community and our neighbouring communities,” said Ms Weston.
Krispy Kremes were available online for pre-order by the dozen as well as at the airport throughout the day.
Flown in from Melbourne, the doughnuts came in original glazed and an assorted pack for $28.
The initiative is part of Krispy Kreme’s “FUN-draising” program which allows organisations to purchase doughnuts and donate a portion of the proceeds to a registered charity organisation.
