TOWNSVILLE AIRPORT REMAINS OPEN Update 1730 30/01/14

Townsville Airport currently remains open and fully operational with some cancellations and delays to services being

experienced due to Tropical Cyclone Dylan off the North Queensland Coast.

Townsville Airport has activated Stage 2 of the Cyclone Management Plan. That is, the airport is on cyclone warning status.

The Category 1 Cyclone is expected to move in a general west southwestwards direction over the next 24 hours and may develop further as it approaches the North Queensland east coast.

Townsville Airport’s Chief Operating Officer, Kevin Gill, said the airport remained fully operational but was monitoring the situation and is in liaison with Emergency Management Queensland and Defence on the current status.
