Dance around the world at Townsville Airport

August 30, 2017

Townsville Airport will open the doors to its international terminal for a night of dance, food and entertainment for the first time ever on Saturday, September 16.

Presented by Latin Vibrations and supported by Townsville Airport, “Dance around the World” will feature a full night of dance and entertainment that takes guests around the world – from their seat in the international terminal.

Townsville Airport Chief Operating Officer Kevin Gill said the event was the first of its kind for the airport.

“Never before have we held a production in the terminal – but when we were approached by the team at Latin Vibrations we saw a great synergy with their Dance around the World production and our international terminal, which connects Townsvillians to Asia and beyond,” he said.

“This is a fun way for people to have the immersive experience of travel and culture without even having to leave the airport.

“Latin Vibrations is a local community organisation and we are very pleased to be able to work with them to co-present this very unique production.”

Latin Vibrations director Jodie Coey said the group was excited to have Townsville Airport’s support for the event.

“I approached the staff at the airport with the expectation that it might not be feasible, but they were on board with the concept and have provided amazing support as well as ideas to help make the night a success,” she said.

“Latin Vibrations is a local business full of wonderful Townsville residents, and we have a great amount of pride in our city. I want to showcase the talent we have here as well as inspire others to start dancing, and maybe travelling too.”

Latin Vibrations dancers will be joined by special guests The Rhythm Connection and catering will be provided by Otto’s Fresh Food Market.

‘First class’ tickets are priced at $40 and include best seating, priority food service, while ‘economy’ tickets are priced at $30 including food, drink and entertainment.
