The safety and security of our passengers and visitors is our top priority. On-site security measures are regularly monitored and the airport continues to meet stringent security standards set by the Federal Government.

Domestic passengers, friends and loved ones must be screened before entering the sterile area (the secure part of the terminal). Personal effects are x-rayed and people entering must pass through a metal detector. This is supplemented by random checks for explosives. Please refer to your airline for specific information about baggage.

If you are travelling internationally from Townsville Airport, you will be screened within the International Terminal (located to the left of the check-in counters), this will include random body scanning as well as the screening of liquids, aerosols and gels (LAGs).
